Former NFL wide receiver, Stefon Diggs has been found not guilty in his assault case after a jury cleared him of all charges in Dedham, Massachusetts. The former New England Patriots player had been accused of assaulting his former private chef, Mila Adams, during an argument in December 2025 over alleged unpaid wages. After two days of testimony and arguments, jurors decided there was not enough evidence to convict the 32-year-old, bringing an end to a case that had followed him for months while he searched for another NFL opportunity.
Stefon Diggs cleared after jury finds no evidence of assault against Mila Adams
The case centred around claims made by Mila Adams, who told the court she and Stefon Diggs had known each other for around four years. According to Adams, the two first became friends before later becoming romantically involved. She also worked as Diggs’ private chef starting in February 2025. Adams claimed an argument broke out inside Diggs’ home in Dedham on December 2. She told jurors the fight started over money she believed she was owed.

During her testimony, Adams accused Diggs of hitting her and putting pressure around her neck during the confrontation. “He smacked me with an open hand,” Adams told the court during testimony. She also claimed Diggs later wrapped his arm around her neck during the argument. But throughout the trial, prosecutors struggled to provide physical evidence connected to the alleged incident.

Adams did not report the matter to police until two weeks later, and no photos, medical records, or videos were presented that showed injuries from the alleged fight. Defence lawyers repeatedly questioned Adams’ version of events during cross-examination. They argued that her statements changed over time and said there was no reliable proof that an assault had happened inside the home that night.

Stefon Diggs ‘ defence team says allegations affected former Patriots star personally and professionally
Stefon Diggs did not testify during the trial. Instead, his legal team called several people connected to him, including employees who regularly saw both Diggs and Adams after the alleged incident. Those witnesses said they never noticed bruises, marks, or signs of physical injuries on Adams. Diggs’ attorneys also argued Adams was upset after not being invited on a Miami vacation with some of Diggs’ friends. According to the defence, that frustration later turned into the accusations presented in court. Outside the courthouse, one member of Diggs’ legal team said the case had deeply affected the former NFL star. The attorney told reporters after the verdict. It was quoted as:

Prosecutors admitted during closing arguments that Adams was not a perfect witness, but they still asked jurors to believe her testimony. In the end, however, the jury sided with the defence and found Diggs not guilty on both the felony strangulation charge and the misdemeanour assault and battery charge. The verdict now allows Stefon Diggs to fully focus on football again after being released by the New England Patriots in March. With NFL preseason activities getting closer, the veteran receiver is expected to continue looking for a new team for the 2026 season.
