Thoothukudi: Social Justice Minister Vanniyarasu has said the Tamil Nadu government was taking steps to challenge in the Supreme Court the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court order, quashing the CB-CID chargesheet against K. Saravanan and Krishnakumari, parents of Surjith, in the honour killing of techie Kavin Selvaganesh, who belonged to the Scheduled Caste.

Speaking to reporters at Vagaikulam airport here on Saturday, Vanniyarasu said the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) had stood with Kavin’s family from the beginning and demanded the arrest of everyone involved in the murder. VCK leader Thol. Thirumavalavan continued to remain in touch with Kavin’s parents, he said.

“It is not acceptable that the chargesheet against Surjith’s father and mother in this case has been quashed. Thirumavalavan has made it clear that the verdict is against justice,” noted the minister.

The minister said law minister Nirmal Kumar had spoken to Kavin’s mother over the phone about moving the Supreme Court on Thursday. “Nobody will be allowed to escape in this case,” Vanniyarasu said.
