Lacey Turner’s famous sister has shared a few loving words for teh EastEnders star after she performed her first live dance on Strictly Come Dancing alongside Vito Coppola
EastEnders star Lacey Turner received an emotional tribute from her sister after completing her first live dance on Strictly Come Dancing. The star’s youngest sister, Lily Harvey, who is best known for her own role in EastEnders, posted on Instagram.
On Saturday, Lacey, 38, took to the dance floor with Vito Coppola for a cha cha cha to Whitney Houston’s How Will I Know. The dance won the first standing ovation of the season and was given 27 points, putting her near the top of the leaderboard.
Lily, 22, then posted a selfie of herself watching the TV with tears in her eyes. Over the top of the image, posted to her Instagram Stories, Lily wrote: “Watching your sister on Strictly for the first time is so surreal. Beyond proud.”
Both of Lacey’s siblings are TV actresses. Lily appeared in EastEnders in 2011 as Shenice Quinn, the daughter of Kat Slater’s friend Maxine. Lily’s time on the show came a few months after Lacey, who plays Stacey Slater, took a break from the show, and executive producer Bryan Kirkwood had no clue that they were sisters.
He said: “The truth of it is I didn’t know she was Lacey’s sister until after I said she was the girl I wanted to cast. Whether by accident or design I sat down and watched a tape of a very talented young girl and it was only after we decided that I was told it was Lacey’s sister. So it was complete accident.”
Lily was only supposed to be on EastEnders for four episodes, but she was so well-liked that she was brought back full time later in 2011. She remained on the show until 2012, leaving before her big sister made a comeback as Stacey. Since her time on the soap, Lily took a break from acting.
But, Lily and Lacey aren’t the only ones of their sisters to have acted. Their other sister Daisy has also had a soap career. Daisy Turner, 36, played Rebecca Massey on Hollyoaks in 2011, featuring in key stories until she was murdered by serial killer Silas Blissett.
Saturday night was the first live show of this year’s Strictly Come Dancing. After dancing, Lacey’s performance was described by Shirley Ballas as “magnificent”. Motsi Mabuse added that the routine was the “surprise of the night”.
Anton du Beke also said her cha cha cha was his “favourite dance of the night so far”, while Craig Revel Horwood said she had “beautiful straight legs” and that her “timing was great”. He ended by complimenting her “very, very clean and strong performance”.
Lacey recently opened up about why she said yes to Strictly, revealing that she wanted people to know that she wasn’t really like notoriously gobby Stacey Slater: “I think it would just be nice for people to maybe see me as me.
“You play the same character for 21 years, and there are obviously bits of me in Stacey, but we are so different. Hopefully on Strictly people will be able to separate me from the character and learn more about me.”
