
Vijayawada: Veteran Telugu actors Gadde Babu Rajendra Prasad and Maganti Murali Mohan would receive the Padma Shri at the second Civil Investiture Ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Tuesday.
Rajendra Prasad, born on April 15, 1955, at Patamata Lanka in Krishna district, graduated in Ceramic Engineering before pursuing a career in cinema. He studied acting and mime at the Chennai Film Institute and won a gold medal. Entering the film industry in 1977, he went on to act in 286 films across six languages over a career spanning more than four decades.
Murali Mohan, born on June 24, 1940, at Guntupalli in Guntur district, entered the film industry in 1973 and has acted in around 350 films. He established Jayabheri Art Productions and produced 25 Telugu and Kannada films. He also served as a member of the National Film Development Corporation, chaired the Andhra Pradesh State Film Development Corporation and played an active role in the Movie Artists Association for over a decade.
Ahead of the ceremony, education minister Nara Lokesh met the two actors in New Delhi and felicitated them. He presented mementoes and congratulated them.
