The Transmission Corporation of Telangana Limited (TG Transco) has won the award for the lowest transmission losses in the southern region for the second consecutive financial year at the Power Line TransTech India Utility Awards 2026 in New Delhi.
Transco recorded transmission losses of 2.20% in 2025–26, compared with 2.19% in 2024–25 and 2.30% in 2023–24.
Director (grid and transmission management) G. Sampath Kumar received the award. The recognition comes as Telangana’s power demand continues to grow, with the state meeting a record peak demand of 20,018 MW on October 16.
Transco has more than doubled its network capacity since its formation in 2014 and is expanding and strengthening its transmission system to meet rising requirements.
The ongoing works include new substations and transmission lines and augmentation of existing capacity.
Transco is also coordinating with power distribution companies to improve voltage and reactive power management.
