Hyderabad: The TGSRTC strike has cast a shadow on the travel plans of the office goers, students and women availing free bus scheme forcing them to shell out more to reach their respective destinations.
As talks between RTC JAC Unions and the management failed on Tuesday night, the union decided to continue their strike from Wednesday morning forcing buses to remain in depots.
Unaware of the strike, the passengers came to the bus top to reach their destination. Much to their surprise they came to know that the RTC buses were not operating due to the strike leaving them in a helpless situation.
Left with no other option, the passengers, especially women and students, had to rely on private transport facilities by paying more money. Cashing in on the situation, the private operators mostly auto rickshaw drivers charged exorbitant prices to ferry passengers.
Meanwhile, the irate RTC employees stopped a few hired buses operated in the morning. At LB Nagar crossroads, they damaged the windowpanes of the bus for ferrying passengers when the strike was in vogue.
The depots in Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station and Jubilee Bus Station apart from Ranigunj I and II depots and other areas, wore a deserted look with buses remaining inside the premises.
