On Monday, we took a look at how the fix Notre Dame football‘s rushing attack, and one of the points was to play in reverse, using the pass to set up the run.
With a star quarterback in CJ Carr, this becomes an option for the Irish, and Underdog CFB’s social media page showed us exactly what this idea could work. According to their data, the second-year starter has been pinpoint with his attempts over 10-yards.

Carr has completed 15-of-22 passes for 424-yards and 3 touchdowns with no interceptions. That is elite quarterback play, and a reason why we have seen Notre Dame opt to throw the ball on first down more often than we have seen in years past.
There is plenty of confidence that the run game will catch up with the pass game, but right now it makes plenty of sense to play to Carr’s strengths as the backs get their footing on the season. Let CJ cook.
