TOWIE star Amy Childs has opened up about under-fuelling and yo-yo dieting, saying she feels stronger while working with a fitness coach. Fans had previously voiced concerns over her slimmer appearance
After fans expressed concern about her slimmer appearance, Amy Childs has shared a candid account of her struggles with dieting. The TOWIE favourite reflected on her past approach to food and fitness in an Instagram post, while revealing she now feels stronger.
The 36-year-old promised she was ‘going to be really honest’ as she explained how restricting her diet and pushing herself had left her frustrated. Despite her efforts to transform her body, Amy said she repeatedly found herself back where she started. In the post, mum-of-four Amy wrote: “For as long as I can remember… I thought I was doing everything right. I’d diet, cut things out, push myself… and yet I’d always end up back in the same place.
“I was definitely not happy with how I looked and, honestly, not happy with how I felt either, I was dieting all wrong. I’d under-fuel, stress, lose a bit of weight, then it would all come back and I’d start the whole thing again.”
Amy, who previously admitted she’d used ‘skinny jabs’ to lose weight, confessed she was stuck in a “yo-yo cycle” and wasn’t properly managing her nutrition or energy levels. She added: “And I definitely wasn’t looking after my health the way I thought I was.”
The reality star has since been working alongside Nutritional Fat Loss and Behaviour Coach Jon Kirk and says she has “learned so much” from the experience.
“My food has improved, I feel stronger and I can see changes in my body, my skin and my strength,” she said.
Amy insists she “isn’t finished” with her transformation journey just yet, but feels she’s “heading in the right direction”. Fans were quick to show their support, with the post amassing over 5,000 likes.
One wrote: “You look amazing,” while another commented: “Wish I had the motivation.”
A third chimed in: “I have seen you be criticised from every angle over the years, Jon is very experienced and you have put some hard effort in to your body. Good you have spoken up darling.”
Amy revealed back in May that she had used ‘skinny jabs’, but she only tried them briefly and stopped due to severe side effects.
She said stopped the injections almost immediately because they made her feel incredibly unwell and severely sick.
Amy is a mother of four. Her eldest daughter, Polly, arrived in 2017 from her former relationship with Bradley Wright, while her eldest son, Richie, followed in 2018 from a subsequent partnership.
He rarely appears on television or social media, as his father prefers to maintain his privacy.
Her twins, Amelia (Milly) and Billy, whom she shares with husband Billy Delbosq, were born on April 6, 2023.
Amy and Billy Delbosq tied the knot on Saturday, April 11 this year in a quiet, intimate civil ceremony at Marylebone Town Hall in London.
The pair first connected online during the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020. With strict pandemic restrictions preventing them from visiting traditional venues, their early dates looked rather different from most couples.
Instead, they got to know one another through “walking dates” in local parks. Amy later revealed she knew Billy was the one when he made one of their first strolls extra special by arriving with a homemade picnic – complete with Pimm’s cleverly hidden inside plastic water bottles.
The couple made their romance official in September 2021, following Amy’s separation from her former partner.
