HYDERABAD: Former vice-chancellor of University of Hyderabad, Prof. Appa Rao Podile, has been selected as an Indian National Science Academy (INSA) senior scientist for a three‑year term.
He will be affiliated with the School of Life Sciences at UoH, continuing research and mentoring under the programme, which enables senior scientists to remain active and guide institutions.
Prof. Podile, a microbiologist and plant biotechnologist, is widely recognised for his work on plant–microbe interactions, biological control of plant diseases, and sustainable agriculture. His research has advanced understanding of soil ecosystems and microbial technologies for crop improvement. He has guided 28 doctoral and 12 postdoctoral scholars.
