Virat Kohli’s camp has stepped in to shut down a claim that’s been doing the rounds this week. The cricketer’s spokesperson issued an official statement addressing allegations made by Falahari Maharaj, Dinesh Sharma, president of the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Sangharsh Nyas, who claimed that a property-linked group had spent Rs 5 crore to arrange Kohli’s visit to spiritual leader Premanand Maharaj’s ashram in Vrindavan.

The statement left little room for ambiguity. “We would like to categorically state that the claims made by Falahari Maharaj Dinesh Sharma in regards to Mr. Virat Kohli are completely false, baseless and factually incorrect,” it read. It went on to clarify the real reason behind Kohli’s repeated visits to the ashram. “Mr. Virat Kohli visits Premanand Maharaj Ji purely out of his deep faith and reverence for Maharaj Ji.” The spokesperson also had a pointed message for the media covering the story. “We strongly refute these claims and urge the media to exercise due diligence, verify facts before reporting or amplifying such statements, and report responsibly.”

Kohli’s connection to Premanand Maharaj isn’t new or disputed. He and wife Anushka Sharma first visited the Vrindavan-based spiritual leader back in January 2023, and have returned on multiple occasions since, including trips in December 2025 and again this year. The visits have largely been seen as a genuine part of the couple’s spiritual routine, something they’ve never shied away from documenting.

The allegation itself reportedly surfaced through a letter Falahari Maharaj sent to the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, in which he claimed a Rajasthan-based group had facilitated Kohli’s visit to boost Premanand Maharaj’s popularity amid broader disputes linked to the ashram and surrounding property interests. As of now, no independently verified evidence, no bank record, contract or statement, has surfaced to support the Rs 5 crore figure.

With Kohli’s team now firmly on record denying the claim, the ball is back in the court of those making the allegation.
