Visakhapatnam: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu on Saturday announced that the state government would take steps to resolve the long-pending Panchagramalu land dispute in Visakhapatnam and expedite issuance of pattas to around 22,000 eligible beneficiaries.
Addressing a public meeting at the AU Engineering College grounds after distributing conveyance deeds to 28,445 beneficiaries under the Pedalaku Pattabhishekam – Mee Illu Mee Hakku programme, the AP CM said the patta distribution process would be completed throughout the state at the earliest.
Naidu disclosed that poor families residing on Endowment department lands would be provided pattas, provided they are found eligible.
He said his government is striving to address long-standing revenue-related issues through the Mee Bhoomi – Mee Hakku programme. According to him, the initiative has led to regularisation of lands and issue of pattas to 12,000 families across different districts.
Officials explained that under the Mee Bhoomi – Mee Hakku initiative, 399 acres of land spread across 11 mandals in Visakhapatnam district have been regularised, covering a total extent of 19,33,853 square yards. The registration value of the land is estimated at ₹8,874 crore.
The Chief Minister told the gathering that conveyance deeds would provide legal ownership rights to thousands of families who have lived without a clear title for several years.
He advised beneficiaries to retain their properties, as they would provide long-term security for their families.
Naidu said his government is continuing its focus on food, shelter, and clothing to the poor. Stating that house construction remains a priority, he pointed out that more than five lakh houses have been built in the past two years.
Another five lakh-plus houses are targeted for completion by March 2027.
He said his government’s aim is to ensure that every family has a permanent address.
Referring to Visakhapatnam’s growth, the CM said the city is among the country’s rapidly expanding urban centres. It has the potential to emerge as a major global city.
He pointed out that infrastructure projects, including the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport, have created new opportunities in North Andhra.
He maintained that benefits of development must reach all sections of the society.
Naidu spoke about the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant and Visakhapatnam Railway Zone. He said the government would decide on the future use of buildings constructed at Rushikonda, so that they could be put to public use.
Following the programme, the Chief Minister attended the Swarnandhra programme on Visakhapatnam Beach Road.
He visited food stalls in the beach area and spent time with vendors.
Those present at the meeting included ministers K. Atchannaidu, Nadendla Manohar, and Dola Balaveeranjaneya, BJP state president P.V.N. Madhav, MP M. Bharat, MLAs, public representatives, and senior officials.
