Warriors predicted to trade Draymond Green for $186M rebounding savant for Steph Curry Finals run originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Golden State Warriors looked like one of the league’s bottom-feeders when the season started, but they were quickly able to turn things around. Rookie Yaxel Lendeborg has been a major reason for that, as he has been playing at an incredible level.

In fact, the rookie has made such a significant impact that former ESPN writer Bill Simmons believes he has saved the Steph Curry era.
“Yaxel might have single-handedly saved the Steph era, like for real, and I can’t tell you how good he was in this Denver game last night . . . Yaxel looked like mid-2010’s LeBron in this game. I don’t say that lightly because mid-2010’s LeBron was awesome. They’re running the offense through him. He was all over the place on defense. He was rebounding. He was initiating stuff. He was getting to the basket whenever. It was unbelievable. I couldn’t believe it. I couldn’t believe how good he was,” Simmons said.
Golden State is in a good position, but it needs to make a major move to be considered a legitimate contender. Bleacher Report’s Andy Bailey has proposed a trade that would send Draymond Green, Kristaps Porziņģis, Will Richard, and a top-four-protected 2032 first-round pick from the Warriors to the Sacramento Kings in exchange for Domantas Sabonis.
“The Golden State Warriors’ better-than-expected start makes a Draymond Green trade harder to imagine, but they look like a near-ideal landing spot for Sabonis, and they simply can’t get him without including Green or Jimmy Butler. The more logical approach, assuming the Warriors really want to chase one more title with Stephen Curry, is to pair Green’s salary with the Kristaps Porziņģis contract, which was essentially designed to be a human trade exception,” Bailey wrote.

The Warriors need a dominant big man if they are going to compete with the league’s top teams. Sabonis has reportedly made it clear that he wants out of Sacramento.
“Quite frankly, Sabonis wants out of there, and if they can move him, they would. So he’s not happy,” ESPN’s Brian Windhorst said.
While losing Green would hurt the Warriors defensively, Sabonis impacts the game in several ways. He is a rebounding machine, can distribute the ball as a point forward, and knows how to win.
Sabonis is currently playing on a $186 million contract with the Kings. If Golden State seriously wants to make one more run at a championship with Curry, this is the type of deal that could help make it happen.
