Blues coach Laurie Daley is speaking to the media where he is expected to name Roosters winger Mark Nawaqanitawase as a replacement for Stephen Crichton in his Origin II squad.
Crichton was originally named in Daley’s team on Monday afternoon, but an ongoing AC joint injury is set to rule him out for game two in Melbourne on June 18.
Crichton indicated to Daley last week he was a chance of not being fit, and his withdrawal now opens the door for a potential Origin debut for Nawaqanitawase, fresh from a hat trick for the Roosters.
However, it remains to be seen where he fits in, with outside backs Kotoni Staggs, Casey McLean, Brian To’o and Tolu Koula already named in the team.
Nawaqanitawase will need to return to club duty at the end of the week if he is named 20th or 21st man.
More to come.
