THORNWOOD – Westlake put two touchdowns on the board in the last 17 seconds of the first half en route to a 23-17 win over visiting Pearl River Friday night in a Section 1 Class B semifinal.
The Wildcats had failed to score in the first 29 minutes and 33 seconds of the first half before taking a 15-10 lead at halftime.

The game was one of big plays, perhaps none bigger than Luke Gilberti’s touchdown as time expired in the first half off a Pearl River fumble.
Luck was definitely on the Wildcats’s side as their second-half touchdown occurred after Pearl River partially blocked a Westlake pint, but Westlake recovered the ball for a first down.
Pearl River ended its season 8-2.
Westlake advances to play for the Section 1 Class B title at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14 against Pelham at North Rockland High School. Pelham beat Byram Hills 27-7 on Friday.
