Despite his success, Paul had his fair share of controversies. 

Earlier in 2022, he had to face legal trouble after he was taken into custody for driving under the influence in California. Later, he pleaded guilty and got probation, fines and other penalties. In the same year, he survived a violent attack at their San Francisco residence. An intruder broke into their home, allegedly looking for Nancy. However, in her absence, he had hit Paul with a hammer. In turn, he was seriously injured with a fractured skull. Therefore, he was taken for emergency surgery, shocking the political world. Meanwhile, their stock trades amid Nancy’s high-ranking government position has raised eyebrows. However, no wrongdoing has been proved in their case.

Initially, Nancy focused on raising their children during the early days of their marriage. Meanwhile, Paul focused on growing his business.

However, Nancy and Paul’s lives changed when Nancy stepped into Congress in 1987. It marked the beginning of a political career. Eventually, she made history as the first woman to serve as Speaker of the House. After Nancy’s rise in politics, Paul stayed behind-the-scenes. He supported her and even took on household responsibilities until she learned to handle the demands of public office.
