Fans of the Australian hit-maker want to know all about her relationship history as a revealing new documentary hits Netflix this week

The Neighbours icon shared a heartbreaking admission about his co-star ex.

Netflix has just released an eye-opening new documentary all about former Neighbours star and pop sensation Kylie Minogue.

Released today (Wednesday, 20th May), the three-part series features new exclusive interviews with Kylie herself as well as her friends, family, and collaborators as the Australian icon delves into her inspiring life and career.

One of the highlights of the doc is her stint on the popular Australian soap opera Neighbours during the 1980s as Charlene Mitchell, where she met her ex-boyfriend Jason Donovan.

Jason portrayed Charlene’s sweetheart Scott Robinson and the pair even tied the knot in an episode that was broadcast in the UK on 8th November 1988 to millions of excited viewers.

However, despite Charlene and Scott staying together long after their departure from the series, Kylie and Jason’s relationship sadly didn’t last much longer after they said goodbye to Erinsborough, Melbourne.

So, why did Kylie and Jason break up?

Kylie and Jason, both 57, started their stints on Neighbours in 1986, and their relationship followed soon afterwards.

The pop star recently told The Sunday Times: “We fancied each other. The love story in the show came first, and then it became a real thing.”

They went on to date for three years before Kylie left Neighbours in 1988, with Jason following suit in 1989. Their relationship came to an end that same year after both stars took their careers in a more musical direction. While they did duet on their UK number one single Especially For You in 1988, they soon decided to focus on their solo careers.

Kylie then began dating INXS band member Michael Hutchence in 1989, just a few months later, staying together until 1991. Her ex Jason actually played a major role in getting them together, as he had secured backstage passes for INXS’s tour for their hit album Kick in 1988.

“I wasn’t the only one to notice the buzz between Kylie and Michael that night,” Jason has revealed previously, per Grazia. “I’d noticed him staring at her when we met backstage. He kept whispering in her hair and she kept laughing.”

Although neither Kylie and Jason have divulged a single reason for the breakup, it’s generally believed that the demand of their busy schedules combined with Kylie and Michael’s connection led to their relationship falling apart. However, while the split may have been painful, they have remained on good terms.

Jason recently spilled to the Big Issue: “Was [Kylie] my first love? Probably. And it was not an easy break-up. She and I were so connected personally and professionally, it’s a very difficult relationship to escape.
