Hyderabad: For the first time in its 130-year history, Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) is preparing to appoint women as Heavy Dumper Operators in opencast mines.
Following the vision of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu to strengthen women empowerment, Singareni has taken a revolutionary step towards gender equality in the mining sector.
Thirteen women employees successfully completed Heavy Motor Vehicle training at TIDES, Sircilla and are now ready to operate massive 60-100 tonne dumpers in Singareni mines.
The key highlights of the initiative include enabling women to enter heavy dumper operations for the first time, free heavy vehicle training provided by Singareni, equal opportunities in challenging mining jobs.
“The initiative facilitated us to excel in blasting and rescue operations and apart from creating more opportunities ahead in technical sectors. Today, we are excelling in every field — from space to mining,” said the trained women operators proudly.
This marks a new era of women-led transformation in Telangana’s mining industry.
