Hyderabad: A 36‑year‑old construction worker died after falling from the third floor of an under‑construction building in New Vivekananda Nagar under Jeedimetla police station limits on Monday. Allegations of negligence prompted police to register a case against the contractor.

The deceased was identified as Bolle Kurumaiah, a native of Tukkadinne village in Nagarkurnool district and resident of Santhoshgiri Nagar, Yousufguda. He was employed as a daily wage labourer at the site.

According to a complaint lodged by his wife, Kurumaiah had been working under a contractor identified as Srinu for several months. On Monday around 11.30 am, he was working on the third floor when he fell from the structure and suffered grievous injuries.

He was immediately shifted for medical treatment, but doctors declared him dead.

In her complaint, the victim’s wife alleged that the contractor failed to provide proper safety equipment and adequate protective measures for workers at the construction site. She held the contractor responsible for the death and sought legal action.

Based on the complaint, police registered a case under BNS Section 106(1) and initiated an investigation. Further probe is underway.
