Smith & Daughters Social Club

Smith and Daughters has been embraced by diners as a restaurant dialled into the zeitgeist, from the craze for cacio e pepe to the joys of open-flame cooking. That its menu is entirely plant-based is secondary, although it remains a source of amazement for first-timers. (The phrase “Are you sure it’s all vegan?” is a constant in the handsome red-brick warehouse.)

Letting its hair down as a re-badged “Social Club”, the 2026 iteration is loosely Mediterranean. Chickpeas given the cacio treatment land a vegan moonshot for Rome’s all-conquering pasta dish. Founder Shannon Martinez is a maestro of the faux: witness the meatballs on a plush bed of polenta (spoiler: they’re not meat).

But oozy cheese bitterballen croquettes and lion’s mane “steak” frites tread a more conventional path. Finish with the tiramisu. It’s dairy-, nut- and gluten-free, but you’d never know it.

Good to know: A few doors along, Smith & Deli rocks lunchtimes with a standout Reuben.
