More than a year after Good Bad Ugly hit theatres, Ajith Kumar’s next feature film has finally been unveiled. Titled Daredevil, the film reunites the actor with director Adhik Ravichandran following the success of their previous collaboration. The announcement was accompanied by the unveiling of the title and first look, while also marking a major milestone for Shalini Ajithkumar, who makes her debut as a producer with the project.
The announcement comes alongside another significant reveal for Ajith’s fans. The first look of Gladiators, a documentary centred on the actor’s racing journey, has also been released, offering a glimpse into the world he immersed himself in during his year away from cinema.
Daredevil reunites Ajith with Adhik Ravichandran
Daredevil marks Ajith’s 64th film as a lead actor and sees him once again teaming up with Adhik Ravichandran, who also serves as the film’s writer. While the makers are yet to disclose details about the supporting cast or storyline, the title poster hints at a narrative rooted in the world of gambling, sparking speculation about the film’s setting and themes.
Shalini Ajithkumar is backing the project under her newly launched Bravehearts Production banner, making Daredevil her first feature film as a producer.
The film also brings together an accomplished technical team. Anirudh Ravichander returns as composer after scoring Good Bad Ugly, continuing his collaboration with both Ajith and Adhik. Cinematographer Abinandhan Ramanujam, editor Vijay Velukutty, stunt choreographer Supreme Sundar, and sound designer Suren are also part of the crew. Suren was recently named the recipient of the Special Mention for Sound Mixing at the 72nd National Film Awards for his work on Meiyazhagan (2024), adding further weight to the technical lineup.
Daredevil marks Ajith’s return to the big screen after taking a year-long break from films to focus on competitive motorsport, a passion he has pursued with increasing seriousness over the past year.
Gladiators documents Ajith’s racing journey
Alongside the feature film announcement, the makers also unveiled the first look of Gladiators, a documentary that chronicles Ajith’s journey as a professional racer. The project is directed by Vijay, best known for Deivathirumagal and Madrasapattinam, and is produced by Shalini Ajithkumar under the Golden Trophy Film Production banner.
The documentary boasts an experienced technical crew, with GV Prakash Kumar composing the music. The composer reunites with Vijay after Deivathirumagal and Madrasapattinam, and also follows up his work on Ajith’s previous outing, Good Bad Ugly. The crew further includes videographer Noel Kemman, cinematographers Ribhu Sarma and Kabilan Vinayic, and editor Anthony.
Ajith has spent much of the past year balancing his acting career with his commitment to motorsport. As part of the Ajith Kumar Racing Team, he has competed in endurance racing events alongside former Formula 1 driver Narain Karthikeyan, including races in the prestigious Le Mans series.
With both Daredevil and Gladiators now officially announced, fans can look forward to witnessing two different facets of Ajith’s journey. While one promises his return as a leading man on the big screen, the other offers a closer look at the determination and discipline that have fuelled his pursuit of success beyond cinema.
