Mumbai is about to host one of the biggest global nights of the year, and Alia Bhatt is right at the centre of it. The actor, producer and entrepreneur has been confirmed as one of the presenters for The Earthshot Prize 2026 Awards Night, where she’ll hand out one of the ceremony’s five awards. This marks the first time the prestigious environmental honour has come to India.
Alia won’t be the only big name in the room. She’ll share the stage with Oscar winner Rami Malek, cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, Bridgerton star Simone Ashley and actor Sonam Kapoor, with filmmaker Karan Johar hosting the evening. Scheduled for November 17 at an undisclosed Mumbai venue, the event is expected to draw around 5,000 guests spanning film, music, sport and environmental advocacy.
Founded by Prince William in 2020, The Earthshot Prize was built to identify and celebrate groundbreaking environmental leadership, with a goal of discovering 50 winners over a decade who have the power to meaningfully repair the planet. This year’s ceremony will also mark a milestone of its own, streaming globally on Prime Video for the first time, reaching audiences across more than 240 countries in over 40 languages.
Speaking about being part of the evening, Alia said, “The Earthshot Prize is really about hope… but hope that comes with ideas, action and people who are finding new ways forward. That’s what makes it so inspiring to be a part of.” She added a personal note about the city hosting it. “There are people across the world doing incredible work to protect and repair our planet, often in ways we may never have imagined. And to have Mumbai bring all these people together feels very special.”
With Earthshot Ambassadors Robert Irwin and Nomzamo Mbatha also expected to attend, and Shreya Ghoshal set to perform live, Mumbai’s night with the Earthshot Prize is shaping up to be a genuinely global affair.
