Bhuvaneswari Donates ₹76 lakh to Anna Canteens; Free Meals on CM’s Birthday

VIJAYAWADA: Marking the birthday of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, his spouse Nara Bhuvaneswari on Sunday donated Rs 76 lakh to the state-run Anna Canteens, enabling free meals to be served in all 269 canteens across the state on Sunday.

Bhuvaneswari handed over the cheque to the CEO of Anna Canteens at the Chief Minister’s camp office, requesting that the amount be used to provide free meals to beneficiaries on the occasion.
Describing Anna Canteens as a reflection of a “caring mother feeding her children”, she said the initiative has emerged as a commendable programme of the coalition government, benefiting lakhs of people by ensuring food security with dignity. She noted that meals are provided at `5 in a clean and hygienic environment.
Highlighting the importance of nutritious food for daily wage workers and economically weaker sections, she urged citizens and donors to support the programme. She also recalled her long-standing association with charitable initiatives, noting that she has been donating `44 lakh annually for Annadanam at Tirumala on her grandson Devaansh’s birthday.
Extending birthday wishes to the Chief Minister, she described the contribution as a special gift.
Responding to the gesture, Naidu appreciated the initiative and reiterated the government’s commitment to strengthening Anna Canteens. He said efforts would be made to expand the programme with public support and encouraged donors to sponsor meals on occasions such as birthdays and anniversaries.
