Seriously, it looks like a lot of fun, and why not? Anarchy in the streets and vast debts that can never be paid off. This is just France as well; in other parts of the EU there are even more delights to behold. We must rejoin the EU again; it will be gloriously fun.
If you love burning delapidated schools and other educational establishments down to the fucking ground, the EU brings forth some serious positive vibes. Far leftist Anarcho-communist partisans throwing Molotov cocktails in every direction and beating the merde out of the cops. There is something wondrously romantic and endearing about watching such feats of raw violence. One feels a certain excitement in the loins at such displays of raw energy, a wild abandon that denotes a flicker of freedom in a world increasingly dying under overregulation and surveillance.
This is really well said by @phl43. What strikes me is how little of this needs a grand theory once you look at how it actually started and what the state can still do.
A blockade with trash cans went up at one lycée in Créteil in mid-September over leaks, missing staff and overcrowded rooms; kids filmed it, and within days the same gesture was being copied in hundreds of schools. That’s how these things cross the threshold here.
France already has the historical reflex to rebel, group chats do the rest, and nobody is really in charge of the spread of the revolt. The lines they give cameras about resources are real enough as local irritants, but France already spends more per lycée pupil than the EU average, and other countries with worse buildings do not set fire to their schools, so I don’t buy the grievance as the engine.

Teenagers, especially boys, have always liked the carnival of missing class and feeling briefly important. The far-left deputies and the casseurs who are not even enrolled showed up after the videos circulated, the way outsiders have piled onto French street movements over veils, ride-sharing and almost anything else.
I’m not surprised either by how people outside France are blowing this way out of proportion and treating the footage as a Rorschach test for their own arguments about immigration and Islamist violence. France has real problems on both counts, obviously, but these particular riots are not that story. Look at the crowds: a huge number of the faces are white, the thing started in ordinary lycées over toilets and missing teachers, and it spread by copycat, not by sermon.
What is different this time is that the usual off-ramp is closed to the government. This is the real ticking time bomb in France. Yields on the 10 year briefly touched a 24 year high above 5%, the deficit is still north of 5% of GDP, and there is no pot of money left to buy peace the way the gilets jaunes were bought off.
Clearing the street is just as unattractive: a 15 year-old has already lost a hand to a stun grenade, the weapon has been pulled, and thousands of minors have been arrested. So the government does what the incentives dictate, lets the disorder run, identifies the worst of them, and picks them up later at home, trading extra smashed bus shelters for the race riots it fears if a cop kills a kid on camera.
Letting the protestors tire themselves out, then collecting the worst of them at home, is shameful. It’s also what any government in that position would do, because every other option looks worse from where they sit. It will work. The cost is the extra destruction, plus the quiet lesson that this is what order looks like once every serious response has been priced out.

The good thing about riots is that they are inclusive. This is a very progressive EU stance where everyone is included in the melee, whether one is an illegal migrant, Islamic terrorist, anarchist agitator, communist revolutionary, student, teacher or chef, there is room for everyone.

The unelected British PM with no mandate to rule, Andy Burnham, needs to bring the UK closer to the EU for sure. This same energy must be imported into Britain immediately so the schools here can burn as well, and the riots, along with the deliciously entertaining violence, can spread across the UK from Land’s End to John o’Groats. There is already a decent level of tension; all it will take is a tiny spark of energy from the EU to light the tinderbox up like a motherfucker on roids.
More, more, bring forth more nihilism; the flag of the EU bristles with nihilistic force as the winds of anarchy ejaculate with pulsating ferocity across the European landmass, echoing into the chambers of Andy Burnham’s stretched orifice as he awaits a good fucking from the EU.
