Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber’s son, Presley, could have died from a suspected overdose, US police have said.
Cindy Crawford’s son’s death is being investigated as a suspected overdose, investigators have confirmed. Presley Gerber died at 27 it was revealed.
It was confirmed on Sunday that Presley died in a rehab facility following a years-long struggle with drugs, panic attacks and his mental health. He is the son of the supermodel and entrepreneur Rande Gerber.
A Santa Monica Police Department spokesperson confirmed that emergency services were called to a luxury rehab Presley had been staying in on Sunday morning. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.
The statement said: “On September 20, 2026, at approximately 9:35 a.m., Santa Monica Police Department officers responded to a report of a possible overdose in the 1000 block of Berkeley Street. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male who was deceased.”
The statement, obtained by the Mail went on: “‘SMPD detectives are investigating the death as a suspected overdose. At this time, there is no indication of foul play. The investigation remains ongoing.”
While Los Angeles County Medical Examiner has not determined the official cause of death, the autopsy has been completed. This allowed Presley’s body to be ready for release.
When approached for comment by TMZ for comment on Presley’s status after news filtered in regarding his death, a representative for Cindy, her husband Rande Gerber, and their daughter Kaia Gerber confirmed that he had died earlier on Sunday.
They said: “The family is asking for privacy during this very difficult and painful time.”
Presley had posted about undergoing an Ibogaine treatment in Mexico on Instagram in March. Ibogaine is a psychoactive indole alkaloid derived from the root bark of the Tabernanthe iboga shrub and is used experimentally for withdrawal symptoms and cravings for substances such as alcohol, opioids and cocaine. Research has also been conducted on it over its potential to help those suffering from PTSD.
At the time, he was supported by his parents and his sister, Kaia. Cindy wrote: “You are a warrior! Walked thru the fire to find yourself! So proud!”
His dad also proudly commented: “I’m so proud of you and your courage. Facing what’s hard takes real strength and watching you find your way back to yourself is everything. I love you so much.”
Presley was the only son of Cindy and Rande and has long struggled with his mental health as well as substance and drug abuse.
Presley, who was also a model, was the brother of model and actor Kaia Gerber. She is currently appearing on FX thriller series The Shards.
Weeks ago, Kaia spoke about her brother’s addiction struggles. Speaking while on a press junket tour to promote the TV programme, she said: “When something like that happens in a family, it kind of levels everyone.”
Speaking to Vogue she continued: “I think that’s also why I started to self-identify as the easy one and never wanted to ask for help. Because it felt like too much to have two children who were needing.”
