Thanjavur:The last date for insuring samba and thaladi crops in Thanjavur district is November 15, according to a press release here on Monday by Thanjavur Collector R. Revathi.
Kshema general insurance company has been selected for insuring crops in Thanjavur 1 area i.e., Thanjavur block except Budalur and Kandiyur fircas, Orathanadu, Thiruvonam, Pattukottai, Madukkur, Peravurani, Sethubavachathiram and Ammapettai block except Ayyampettai and Papanasam fircas.
Agricultural Insurance Company Ltd has been selected for insuring crops in Thanjavur 2 area i.e., Budalur, Thiruvaiyaru, Papanasam, Kumbakonam, Thiruvidaimaruthur, Thiruppanandal and Kandiyur fircas in Thanjavur block and Ayyampettai and Papanasam in Papanasam block.
During this rabi season i.e., samba and thaladi 2026, farmers have to pay a premium of Rs. 583.50 per acre, compensation per acre is Rs. 38,900.
The Collector appealed to farmers to insure their crops in view of the El Nino and Super El Nino situation.
