Hyderabad: The Drugs Control Administration Telangana (DCA) has identified violations in 75 medical shops during a statewide special enforcement drive targeting the sale of popular weight-loss drugs. The raids, conducted on Thursday, focused on medicines such as Mounjaro, Ozempic, Wegovy and Rybelsus, along with their generic equivalents and other anti-obesity formulations.
Officials carried out inspections across multiple districts to check for the presence of spurious or counterfeit batches, and to verify compliance with regulations governing the sale of such drugs, which are typically prescribed for diabetes and weight management.
During the drive, officials found discrepancies in 75 medical shops, primarily related to violations of sale norms and regulatory guidelines. Following this, show-cause notices have been issued to the establishments, initiating departmental action against them.
