BENGALURU: The state-of-art Video Surveillance System (VSS) at Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna Bengaluru City Railway Station commissioned on Wednesday with Facial Recognition Software to mark a major milestone in strengthening railway security infrastructure and passenger safety through advanced surveillance technologies.
The VSS is integrated with Facial Recognition Software for strengthening security surveillance and identification capabilities. As part of the project implementation, a database containing 1086 criminal records has been updated in the FRS platform to support security personnel in monitoring and identification of suspicious persons at the railway station.
With the VSS implementation, railway station security officials will have continuous monitoring of passenger movement and station activities round the clock by having comprehensive surveillance coverage across whole of railway station from entrance to exits, circulating areas, booking offices, reservation halls, concourses, platforms, subways, foot over bridges, waiting halls and others.
The VSS project, as many as 168 IP-based high-definition CCTV cameras have been installed in accordance with Research Design and Standards Organisation (RDSO) specifications to ensure reliable and high-quality surveillance coverage throughout the station.
A modern 20 ftx9 ft video wall has been commissioned at the monitoring center for real-time surveillance by Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel. The centralized monitoring arrangement enables efficient supervision of station activities and rapid incident response.
