Gogglebox stars Dave and Shirley Griffiths have shared a sweet family update with a very rare photo of their rarely-seen daughter, Gemma. The couple made their debut on the Channel 4 show in 2015 and quickly became firm favourites with viewers – thanks to their iconic quips in front of the small screen.
The pair, who have been married for over 50 years, haven’t been joined on their sofa by any of their relatives, choosing to keep their family members – including Gemma and their son, Simon – separate. However, they couldn’t help proudly revealing their daughter’s latest achievement with fans on their joint Instagram, posting a adorable selfie with her.
“Our daughter Gemma and us going to receive her award from south Wales police in recognition for her and her teams hard work, very proud of her xxx,” they captioned the snap.
Fans couldn’t get enough of the photo and rushed to congratulate Gemma on her award in the comments below. One wrote: “Amazing. Congratulations Gemma, what an achievement.”
“You’ve done an amazing job creating her she got a heart of gold and bloody gorgeous to go with it,” another penned. “Well done beaut xx [sic].”
An Instagram user agreed: “Congratulations Gemma and team, your heart’s must be bursting with pride and what a beautiful picture of you all xxx [sic].”
Many others couldn’t get over the family resemblance in the rare update. “Congratulations. Gemma is the double of you both,” a follower said, as a fan added: “Congrats. Looks alot like her Papa [sic].”
Dave and Shirley let cameras into their living room for the sixth season of the Channel 4 hit, in 2015, and have had us all glued to our screens ever since.
Away from Gogglebox, the pair have made sure to keep their family life behind closed doors – but haven’t shied away from shouting about the successes of their children.
Just a few months ago, they posted snaps of son Simon as he completed a half marathon. Alongside the snap, showing him with a medal draped around his neck, his proud parents cheered: “Well done son Newport half marathon 1 hour 27mins today, next challenge Cardiff #hyrox may 4th go for it xx.”
In November, they shared a glimpse into his intense work-out session, with the message: “Our 50year old son Simon going for it fit as a butchers dog.”
