Adam Peaty Ramsay made a triumphant return to the Commonwealth Games today, in his first race since his bitter family feud erupted. The three-time Olympian, 31, competed on the first day of the tournament in Glasgow, after launching his international career at in Scotland 12 years ago.
Swimming in the Men’s 100m Breaststroke semi-finals, the star. was spotted wearing his new look swimming cap that branded his new name ‘Adam Ramsay Peaty.’ The sportsman opted to take wife Holly’s name before his own after their wedding, that saw a huge falling out with his own relatives.
He sailed through to the semi-finals with an impressive time of 59.46 in heat 6 of the men’s 100m breaststroke, giving a little nod of approval at the finish.
Typically, Adam’s parents would have been cheering him on in the arena, after supporting his career since his childhood, but they are no longer on speaking terms.
Adam, who tied the knot with Holly at a star-studded wedding in December, vowed to let his swimming do the talking today in his first big race following his high-profile nuptials and family feud.
It came amid a much-publicised rift with the majority of his family, which escalated after his mother, Caroline, was not invited to the bride’s hen do – or wedding. There was even drama on the big day itself when paparazzi photographers clashed with bodyguards outside the venue.
It was feared his performance in today’s competition could be eclipsed by the ongoing family feud over showbiz Insiders warned that tensions are still boiling amid the rift, which escalated after his mother, Caroline, was not invited to the bride’s hen do.
However, devoted wife Holly, who is pregnant with the couple’s first child, headed to Glasgow — which is hosting the 2026 Games — to join her husband.
Speaking to The Sun about the sad feud, a source said of his performance today: “This could be a career-defining moment for Adam, but there’s always the looming possibility that someone from his extended family will try to detonate another bomb.”
Claiming there were “troublemakers” in Adam’s family, they added: “There appear to be troublemakers in Adam’s extended family who seem to want to try to push a narrative.”
It comes after Holly and Adam’s sister Bethany have reportedly fallen out following a private phone call, marking another shift in the family dispute that surrounded the couple’s December wedding.
However, thankfully, for today at least, Adam was able to let his swimming do the talking.
