HYDERABAD: The Jain community observed the 208th Dhvajaarohan (flag hoisting) at Shri Jain Dadawadi Karwan Temple on Tuesday. Monks Acharya Maniprabh Saharji Maharaj, Sadhvi Sulochna Shriji and Sadhvi Harshpoorna Shriji led prayers attended by hundreds of devotees.
The temple, located in the Old City, is significant not only for its spiritual role but also for housing an old‑age home and serving as a refuge for birds. Following the flag hoisting, chanting and discourses by monks were held, drawing large participation.
Organisers said the ceremony recalls the temple’s original consecration, with the Dhwaja Sthambh (flagstaff) symbolising spiritual activation, victory of faith and community rejuvenation. “It acts as a guide for devotees and also serves as a lightning arrestor protecting the sanctum,” explained organiser Praveen Jain.
