Jane McDonald’s latest career news is set to devastate fans. The music icon has today revealed that she’ll be setting sail “one last time”, on a luxury cruise – but fans are invited to join her.
The Wakefield-born icon, 63, is famed for her catchy cover songs, her impressive back catalogue, and her love of cruise ships, where she originally found fame. But today, the Queen of the Seas has confirmed she’s chartering a ship for a special, seven-day voyage between September 24 and October 1, 2027.
And it’ll be her last. Today, Jane is also set to embark on a sell-out tour, but next year, her cruise on Ambassador Cruise’s flagship, Ambience, will see her bow out from the seas. The seven-day tour will see her joined by Irish country singer Nathan Carter and drag songstress Mary Mac.
“This is not a drill,” Jane said. She went on to add: “Next year will be the final outing for Cruise with Jane McDonald, so if you want to join me for one last time, please jump on board and secure your cabin now.
“I loved last year’s cruise, I can’t wait for this year’s to begin, and now we get to do it for a third and final time in 2027. You all know I love cruising, and I love seeing all of you so please do join me as we set sail for what will be a very special final fling together at sea!”
Cruise with Jane McDonald 2027, will see the Dance Yourself Dizzy singer set off on a seven-day trip from London Cruise Terminal before visiting Cobh, Belfast and Cherbourg.
Fans onboard will be able to enjoy the full cruising experience, featuring the Captain’s Gala Dinner and Baked Alaska Parade, captain’s cocktail party, spa access, the use of a gym, swimming pool and hot tubs, as well as round-the-clock entertainment.
But that’s not all, Jane will be on hand to deliver special appearances, host games of bingo and quizzes and “so much more”. Prices for the cruise start at £899 per person, based on two people sharing an inside cabin.
Those snapping up tickets through pre-sale can also upgrade to the Ambassador Fare, which includes a top Expedition drinks package for an additional £149 per person. This will include all premium and house-brand spirits, wines, premium teas and coffees, non-alcoholic beverages, including soft drinks, and all gratuities and service charges.
Fans of the Yorkshire legend can register for pre-sale on Jane’s website before pre-sale goes live on Friday, October 9. General sale will be available on Monday, October 12, at 10am. Speaking last year about cruising with fans, Jane said it’s “just a joy” and saw fans wide awake until three and four in the morning – only to see the same fans at breakfast a few hours later.
Jane has recently embarked on a mammoth arena tour, performing up and down the country to fans every night. One performance in particular has seen Jane’s name thrust into speculation that she could be set for a Glastonbury appearance.
Over the summer, she headlined the legends slot at Mighty Hoopla, and the performance went down a treat. And it is said to have caught the eye of those at Worthy Farm. A source told The Sun : “Jane and Glastonbury organisers are in very early talks for her to appear next year. She is such a gay icon and would be a perfect fit for the Sunday afternoon Legends slot.”
Cabins can be secured by signing up now at CruiseWithJaneMcDonald.com to access the exclusive online pre-sale, which goes live from Friday, October 9, while the cruise will go on general sale at 10am on Monday, October 12.
