Love Island star Lauren Wood was left devastated after her designer handbag was snatched in central London and has taken to social media to speak out about the ordeal

Love Island star Lauren Wood was left devastated after her designer handbag was snatched in central London this week during what was supposed to be a relaxing girls’ day out.

The 26-year-old, who found fame on the ITV2 dating show last year, took to TikTok on Tuesday evening to share her ordeal, revealing her beloved Louis Vuitton bag had vanished somewhere between leaving Selfridges and arriving at a swanky brand event at The Londoner hotel.

“I got my Louis Vuitton bag stolen in central London today. Hence why I look like this,” a visibly shaken Lauren told her followers. “We were just having a lovely gorgeous shopping day, a girls’ day – bit of dinner, went to Selfridge’s, shopping, walked out of Selfridge’s, bag’s on my shoulder in Selfridge’s – got a video of it.”

While Lauren did not share details of the specific bag taken, she has frequently been seen with a Louis Vuitton Papillon Trunk, which retails for just under £2,500, in recent months.

The former dog walker added: “We walked to the Tube station, got on the Tube to go to a brand gifting suite at one of my favourite hotels, The Londoner. Having a walk around the gifted suite, lovely pieces at the event, and then we decided we’re going to get a little cocktail. A Hugo Spritz on the balcony area. And as I sat down, I looked at Char with a sheer state of panic in my eyes.”

Lauren said her friend initially thought something serious had happened. “Well, actually, it is very serious. I literally sat and realised my bag was not on my shoulder,” she explained.

A frantic search began, with Lauren, Char, staff and security all hunting for the missing item. “I immediately start looking around the gifting place – like, have I put on a rail, or, like, what I’ve done with it. Char’s going around looking for it, the staff were looking for it, the security was looking for it,” she recalled.

“Five minutes later, the guy comes back, he’s been to look at the CCTV cameras, and he said to me, you did not walk in the hotel with an LV bag. It was then, I realised, it must have got stolen on the Tube, or taken off of my arm in Leicester Square.”

Lauren’s experience comes amid rising concerns about theft in central London, with the latest official statistics showing London has a theft-from-person crime rate nearly five times the national average.

The reality star urged her followers to stay vigilant, saying: “So if there’s one thing I’ve learned today, guys, it is to keep your stuff safe when you’re in central London. Keep it so secure on you – keep hold of your phones, or keep your phones in your bags.”

Lauren shot to fame last summer when she entered the Love Island villa as a Casa Amor bombshell, quickly becoming embroiled in one of the show’s most talked-about love triangles with semi-professional footballer Harrison Solomon, 23, and Toni Laites, 25.

The couple’s turbulent relationship saw Harrison dramatically quit the villa to be with Lauren after she was dumped, though they split in November 2025 after what Lauren described as a “perfect relationship”.

Their break-up made headlines again in February when Harrison returned for Love Island: All Stars just two months after their split, with Lauren publicly sharing her upset on social media.
