Amaravati: A new low-pressure area formed over the South Andaman Sea and its vicinity on Thursday under the influence of Wednesday’s upper-air cyclonic circulation, likely to concentrate into a depression and move toward Andhra Pradesh in the first week of November, the Met Department said. The low-pressure formed around 5:30 am and persisted over the same geographies by 11:30 am, an official press release from the Meteorological Department said.
“It is very likely to move west-northwestwards and become a well-marked low-pressure area over the South Andaman Sea and adjoining Andaman & Nicobar Islands during the next 24 hours,” the release further said.
Thereafter, while continuing to move west-northwestwards, the weather system is very likely to concentrate into a depression over the Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands and the Andaman Sea, around October 31.
Moreover, it is likely to intensify further and continue to move west-northwestwards towards Andhra Pradesh coast during the subsequent two days (November first week), the Met Department added.
