As temperatures climb and wardrobes start moving towards paler colours, Nita Ambani’s latest look offered a more layered way to approach summer dressing. For the India Pavilion’s return to the Venice Biennale, she wore a custom chiffon-georgette sari by Anamika Khanna in a blue-green and pale pink ombré palette.

Beginning in a muted blue-green at the body, the drape gradually dissolved into a soft pale pink along the fall, creating a fluid interplay of colour. This tonal story extended into the accompanying pieces, including a hand-embroidered lace blouse adorned with Banarasi-inspired motifs in a matching pink hue.
Further elevating the ensemble was a handwoven Butidar Sozni shawl by Swadesh, continuing her championing of Indian crafts on a global scale. Woven in the same muted blue-green tone, the shawl is detailed with intricate pink motifs that subtly tie the palette together. Ambani completed the look with sculptural earrings by Wallace Chan, crafted in rosewood and accented with a sapphire and ruby.
The ensemble comes together through tonal layering, pairing the fluid chiffon-georgette sari with a lace blouse and a handwoven Sozni shawl. The mix of airy drapes, intricate embroidery and woven textures adds depth to the muted blue-green and pale pink palette.
From Vogue‘s fashion desk:
“Either the shawl or the lace overblouse could have been omitted to give the look a sharper, more elevated finish. The bare neckline works seamlessly with the ensemble, while the statement earrings add just the right amount of daytime glamour. A metallic clutch or embroidered potli would complete the look with understated polish,” says Manglien Gangte, Vogue India fashion associate.
