After a pair of consecutive, heart-breaking losses, the UNC football team is starving for another victory. UConn needs two more wins to keep its bowl streak intact.

The Tar Heels and Huskies will kick off at 12 p.m. this afternoon in East Hartford, Conn. Today’s clash serves as a reamtch of the 2024 Fenway Bowl, when a short-handed North Carolina squad lost 27-14 against a much hungrier, full-strength UConn (4-4) team.

UNC (4-4, 2-3 ACC) won’t be competing for a conference championship in December, but bowl eligibility is on the line. The Tar Heels’ offense is dangerous, most recently torching Miami (FL) for 407 yards during a 38-35 loss on Halloween. North Carolina’s defense is another story, with a lack of pressure creating the greatest issues for a struggling unit.

The Huskies (4-4) are one of two FBS independents, along with Notre Dame, which won 37-27 on October 3 in Chapel Hill. UConn has a dangerous rushing attack, averaging over 400 yards of total offense per game, but can UNC’s defense stop it?

UNC at UConn betting odds, prediction

04:32 PM ET, November 5 2026

UNC 34, UConn 28: Just four games stand between North Carolina and the end of its 2026 season. If the Tar Heels win twice more, they’ll play in a bowl game for the first time since 2024. UNC’s next opponent, UConn, also needs two more wins to reach bowl eligibility. Sure, you could call this just another meaningless non-conference matchup, but don’t tell the Tar Heels and Huskies that. North Carolina’s offense is playing too good to lose, despite the defense failing to generate much of anything. The Huskies will run all over UNC, which gets the close win in a high-scoring affair.
