Guneet Singh Sodhi, an emerging talent from Ludhiana, recently celebrated a significant milestone at the premiere of his latest film, Bad Newz. The young actor, who has long idolized Shah Rukh Khan and sought inspiration outside his iconic residence, Mannat, received praise from Aryan Khan, Shah Rukh’s son, marking a rewarding moment in his career.
In Bad Newz, Guneet portrays Harman Satija, a romantic lead whose character blends the charm of Amol Palekar with the charisma of Hrithik Roshan. He describes Harman as a “good-looking and pure-hearted lover boy,” whose unrequited love for Saloni, played by Tripti Dimri, drives the narrative. Reflecting on his journey to secure the role, Guneet shared, “I prayed for this opportunity while at the Ajmer Sharif Dargah, and shortly after, I received the call confirming my selection”.
Having previously appeared in Laal Singh Chaddha, Guneet is excited about his role in Bad Newz, which features a star-studded cast including Vicky Kaushal and Ammy Virk. He praised his co-stars for their humility and camaraderie, stating, “They were incredibly supportive and treated me like family. We often shared meals and bonded over our Punjabi roots”.
Guneet’s journey began in Ludhiana, and he later moved to Chandigarh for higher education, where he honed his acting skills with the Aaghaaz Theatre Group. He expressed a desire to explore opportunities in Punjabi cinema and the OTT space, stating, “I want to diversify my roles and explore different genres, including negative characters.”
For aspiring actors, Guneet’s advice is straightforward: “Don’t focus on struggles. Just come and test the waters. Keep working hard.” With his passion and determination, Guneet Singh Sodhi is poised to make a significant impact in the film industry.
