NELLORE: Acting on the directives of SP Dr. Ajitha Vejendla, Nellore police conducted cordon-and-search operations across multiple locations in the district on Tuesday, May 5, focusing on crime-prone areas using digital mapping and targeted surveillance.

Police carried out simultaneous early-morning operations from 5:30 a.m. to 7:00 a.m., including in Tufan Nagar under Kavali Two Town police limits and Adavayya Colony under Gudur Two Town police station.

Special teams comprising inspectors, sub-inspectors, and over 70 police personnel collectively took part in the drives.

During the house-to-house checks, police targeted rowdy sheeters, suspects, and absconders, apart from illegal weapons, narcotics, and undocumented vehicles. In Kavali, authorities seized 30 two-wheelers, three autos, and one tractor for lacking proper documentation. In Gudur, 11 two-wheelers have been impounded.

Officials said increased vigilance has been prompted following reports of youth being involved in substance abuse, including narcotic pills. Police found around 10 individuals from Jharkhand in Tufan Nagar. Their antecedents are being verified.

Police also conducted awareness sessions in these localities, cautioning residents—especially youth—against drug use. They asked public to report suspicious activities, including networks of drug supply.

District police say their operations are aimed at strengthening law and order, while building public confidence. They said their cordon-and-search drives will continue across the district.
