Hyderabad: N.V.S Reddy, former managing director of Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) and government adviser on urban transport and Metro Rail, was entrusted with additional responsibilities, including overseeing the operations and maintenance of the existing network and coordinating the proposed common ticketing system with the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) and other modes of public transport.
According to an order issued by Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju on Saturday, Reddy will coordinate with additional managing director B. Ajith Reddy to ensure that the operations and maintenance of Phase-I Metro Rail were carried out as per standard safety and operations and maintenance requirements.
He will work on introducing daily, weekly and monthly Metro Rail passes, either independently or jointly with the RTC.
The government has also tasked Reddy with providing inputs for planning traffic and transportation-related works and projects of GHMC, CMC, MMC, HMDA, FCDA and other civic organisations in the Hyderabad Metropolitan Area.
He will guide civic bodies in preparing plans for better urban mobility and advise Metro Rail organisations on operations, expansion plans and other activities. He will also take up any other responsibilities entrusted to him by the government from time to time.
